Carla Ferrara is a holistic health coach who empowers people to recognize their strength in order to achieve a healthier state, both in mind and body. Her passion is to help people of all ages become more aware of the ways they can enrich their health and their lives by connecting how they feel with their food and lifestyle habits. People she has worked with say she is a caring and compassionate teacher and is good at explaining concepts and ideas in a simple understandable way with a sense of humor. She meets people where they are at on the healthy habits spectrum and then shows them how to move towards their health goals by taking achievable steps.
Carla’s background is very broad and her scope of experience is wide. After earning a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering, she spent the first decade of her working life as a Systems Design Engineer in the aeronautical field and then in worldwide secure network communications. She left her full-time career to raise a family, which enabled her to pursue her lifelong interests in healthy living. She began teaching fitness classes and being more intentional about teaching both clients and her children the importance of eating healthy and taking care of their bodies. Carla has always been active and aware of the impacts of healthy lifestyle habits. While developing this passion, Carla's vision for helping others to see the value of establishing healthy lifestyle habits began to grow.
As life shows you how we are all so connected with each other and our natural habits, Carla soon realized that we need to teach the bigger picture.
She spent the next 2 decades exploring different teaching/facilitating avenues within her community. These experiences include group and individual personal training, practicing yoga and meditation, exploring different modalities of energy healing, leading children of all ages in a national creativity program where they learn to think ‘outside the box’, volunteering in different capacities in the state natural resources program, facilitating domestic violence groups and handling on-call situations, facilitating for the town family mediation program, and as an elementary school teacher’s assistant. She has spent many years dealing with the discovery of an inactive thyroid and then trying to heal using holistic methods. In 2008, Carla started to teach health and wellness classes and workshops locally to teachers, children and the general public. After graduating in 2010 from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, she became a certified health coach.
Her curious nature, her science background and her varied experiences helped develop her awareness of the implication that parts of your life have on your health and how your health affects all parts of your life. Healing begins with the mind-body-nature connection. Once we make that mind-shift, a safe space for personal healing is created.
